Students are encouraged to express their creativity and demonstrate what they learn in a variety of media formats. The library media center offers students opportunities to use audio-visual equipment and computer technology to create media projects. Equipment which may be checked out by students include: video camcorders, tripods, tape recorders, CD players, and digital cameras. Most equipment is checked out for OVERNIGHT use only.

Since a limited number of cameras, etc. are available for the whole school, students are advised to sign up in advance to reserve equipment. To check out a video camcorder, students must submit a permission form signed by their teacher and parent in advance. The content of all projects must be appropriate for a school environment and should not violate provisions in the MINIMUM STANDARDS FOR STUDENT CONDUCT AND DISCIPLINE. Failure to return equipment on time may result in a loss of borrowing privileges.

In the media production room located in the back of the library media center, space is provided for students to work on video and multi-media projects. Students should sign up to reserve the use of the video transfer to DVD station, video editing, multimedia and audio dubbing computers, opaque projector, or the film studio. Space in the production room will be limited to meet the needs of those who sign up for specific activities.

If you plan to borrow a camcorder, arrange for check-out in advance and complete the parent permission form.
