Olympic Overview

The 2026 winter olympics started on Feb. 6, and have featured different sports such as skiing, figure skating, and curling. The 2026 winter olympics took place in Milan and Cortina. Both are cities in Italy. They ended on Feb. 22, and team USA consisted of 232 athletes.
Team USA won several gold medals in the winter olympics, including in women's ice hockey, and team figure skating. Madison Chock and Evan Bates, an American married figure skating team, got silver against the French team in the ice dance event. Lindsey Vonn, an American skier, got into a terrible crash on her first run in Alpine Skiing Women’s Downhill and has had to go through extensive surgery. She had to be airlifted from the mountain to the hospital. Jordan Stolz took silver in the 1500m speed skating, and Alysa Liu won gold in figure skating. Amber Glenn is bringing inclusivity into Olympic sports as the first openly LGBTQ+ figure skater.
