RHS Robotics Team Leo Wins Second Place Inspire Award and Advances to State

On February 21 and 22, the RHS robotics Team Leo attended the Spark Invitational at Philomath High School. On the first day, Team Leo presented their work this year to the judges and finished work on their robot. On the second day, Team Leo competed in five matches, winning four and losing one to finish seventh in qualifications, giving them 13 advancement points. In alliance selection, there were six alliances formed, with Team Leo being chosen for the fourth seed alliance, which gave them 17 advancement points, and having their first match against the 5th seed alliance, winning 135 to 112 and advancing to play the first seed alliance. In the next match, Team Leo lost 215 to 126 and moved into the losers bracket. They then played the sixth seeded alliance and won 122 to 69. Next, they played the fifth seeded alliance again and won 138 to 130. After, they lost against the third seeded alliance 122 to 117 and gained 10 advancement points for placing third in the playoffs. Finally, during the award ceremony they received the second place Inspire Award, received 30 advancement points to finish with 70 and third place in the meet, being one of the four teams to advance out of 36 attending. Team Leo will compete alongside Team Scorpio at state this weekend, on February 28 and March 1 for a chance to advance to the First Championship on April 29 or a Premier event.
