RHS Robotics Advances to State and Invitational

On Feb. 7, RHS hosted SOAR (Southern Oregon Area Robotics) League Championships. Roseburg High’s two teams, Scorpio and Leo, attended. Going into the meet, Scorpio was in fifth place, and Leo was in 11th. Both teams also ended the meet in fifth and 11th respectively. In the playoff team selection, Scorpio was selected to be a part of the second alliance, and lost their first match in the double elimination bracket. Scorpio then went on to win every match including their first match in the finals but lost the final match to finish second place. In the awards ceremony, Scorpio received the Connect award for connecting to their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) community and Leo received the Think award for having the best engineering portfolio showing off their engineering process. Scorpio placed fourth place with 63 points and advanced to State. Team Leo placed 10th with 21 points and advanced to the Spark Invitational. The Spark Invitational is at Philomath High School on Feb. 21 and 22. If team Leo advances from Spark Invitational, they will join Scorpio at State on Feb. 28 and March 1 at Liberty High School in Hillsboro.
