Ms. Hollman Enters RHS

Ms. Hollman is one of the new staff members this school year. She teaches AP Human Geography and World History in the main building. Ms. Hollman taught in Texas before coming to teach at RHS She decided to move to Oregon and eventually move to RHS because of the community:“It's a lot cooler and nicer up here,” she says. When asked about why she chose history as a subject to pursue, she said it was because she’s “always loved history. History has always been a very easy place for me. It's just something I've naturally been good at and naturally drawn to.” She also said she loved the stories of the past, learning about life, and “just learning how wacky stuff is.” At the core of history though, she stated “it's all about people and how people change and move through and leave their mark. And to me, that is the most fascinating subject in the world, the study of people.”
Ms. Hollman stated that her big inspiration for becoming a teacher was her family and her 8th grade history teacher Mr. Bass: “He was a really good teacher, he made me laugh, he made me smile, he made history engaging and exciting and funny.” Her family always said that she’d make a great teacher, which helped reinforce her desire to become a teacher. One of the highlights of her teaching career was when this one student of hers showed up for the first time in the year in December. So “he's like, hey, Ms.Hollman. And I'm like, hey, who are you? And he's like, don't you know me? I'm your student. I'm in your first period. I'm like, you are? I haven't seen you all year.” It was weird but he was given a list of what to do to pass the class and by the next week he got it all done.
Ms. Hollman is going to be a great addition to the school and the Roseburg community.
