Mass Media students are joining student journalists from all over the state for the Oregon Journalism Education Association’s Fall Media Day next week. The Orange R staff wil travel with Roseburg’s yearbook classes to the University of Oregon in Eugene on Tuesday, November 4. The newspaper’s adviser Ms. Engle said, “I’m really excited to go back to Fall Media Day this year. All the students will be able to attend sessions of their choice that focus on different aspects of journalism and media production, as well as participate in video, photo, and newswriting competitions.” In September the program applied for and received funding from Cascade Community Credit Union’s Chalkboard Grant to help with the cost of attendance. In previous years, students have had to pay out of pocket for the event, but this year their registration fees are covered by the grant money. This event will be a great opportunity for the students to network with professionals in the journalism industry.
